Diagnostic Test #2: Realtime Output (Text Editor)

Step 1: With your CAT program open and configured according to our instructions, launch a realtime translation.

Step 2: Open a simple text editor such as Notepad or Wordpad. For Notepad, click Start>Run, type notepad, and click OK.

Step 3: Place your cursor in the word processing file and key in a paragraph or two with your writer. You should get one of three results:

  • No text appears in word processing file (CAT setup issue or user error)
  • Make sure the word processor has focus with the cursor in the file
  • Check your CAT configuration against our instructions again. Make sure your CAT file is open and ready to translate.
  • Verify that your writer is turned on and properly connected. For DigitalCAT™, wait up to 30 seconds for the text to begin feeding.
  • If you still can't get text to appear, work with your CAT software support until the text appears correctly in the text editor
  • Text appears, but there are dropped, partial or stuck-together words (CAT setup issue)
  • Check your CAT configuration against our instructions again.
  • For Case CATalyst™, be sure to completely turn off EZ-Keys.
  • If you still don't see properly translated text, work with your CAT software support until the text appears correctly in the word processor.
  • Text appears correctly
  • You have successfully passed Test#2
  • Now that your text appears correctly in a text editor, go to Test #3
