CAT Software Setup: SpeechCAT™
SpeechCAT™ from Audioscribe™
 
Initial Setup
 
  • Launch SpeechCAT™
  • At the Main Menu, click on the SpeechCAT Sound Setup icon.
  • Ensure that the number of Channels is set to 1.
  • Select the device you are plugging your mask or headset into as the Wave In device.
  • The Type should be Microphone
  • Click [Apply]
  • Click the red Record button, and speak into your mask or headset.
  • Click the red Record button again to STOP recording.
  • Click the Play button beneath the word Name on the voice track to listen to the audio you just recorded. If it sounds good, you are ready to go. If it is too low, raise the volume first, and test again. If the volume is at its highest, raise the gain SLIGHTLY (one notch at a time), and repeat the test until the audio is at a good listening volume.
  • Click on Save as Configuration, and call it RTCConfig or RealtimeCoachConfig, and click [OK]
  • Click [Close] to exit SpeechCAT Sound Setup
 
Exercise Preparation
 
  • Log into Realtime Coach™, and launch an exercise.
  • Notice that in the exercise setup screen, there are words listed under Personal Dictionary and Job Dictionary. It is strongly suggested that you dictate each of these words in SpeechCAT™ BEFORE you begin the exercise to ensure they are, in fact, in your dictionary.
  • Launch SpeechCAT™
  • At the Main Menu, click on New Job, and fill out the required fields.
  • Click OK to exit the New Job screen.
  • From the Main Menu, click the Realtime icon or the Captioning icon.
  • Once in Realtime or Captioning, dictate all of the words listed in the Personal Dictionary and Job Dictionary lists from the Realtime Coach™ exercise setup screen.
  • If ANY words do not appear retrain the words or add them to your dictionary in advance of commencing with the exercise.
  • Without performing this preparation, you are very likely to get errors that you could have otherwise prevented.
  • Save your speech files in SpeechCAT™
  • In the SpeechCAT™ window, click on the Dictate to Window icon.
  • Click the SRE Mic button to turn the mic on.
  • You may now click Play on the Realtime Coach™ exercise. When your cursor appears in the My Transcript column, begin dictating.
